Water Activities – There are many things you can do in the ocean, from beginners to professionals. You can choose what interests you and what suits you best:  swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, stand-up paddling,  body surfing, windsurfing or kiteboarding, parasailing, scuba diving, and bodyboarding. You can try your hand at water sports like surfing or float on the calmer waters in the heart of Kailua Kona at the historic King Kamehameha Beach. 

Visit Kilauea Visitor Center – Come and see an active volcano at Halema’uma’u crater, a volcanic caldera lookout point. Also home to the volcano forest hiking trails.

Drive around the Island – It takes around 6-8 hours to drive around the entire island. This is an all-day activity. Some people even like to stay over on one side of the island so that they don’t have to rush back which is recommended. As you enjoy the scenery and the journey along the way, it’s a very enjoyable experience. 

Farmers Markets – There are several farmers markets around the island and a couple right in downtown Kona.

Whale Watching, Whale Season on the Big Island runs from December through April. Sometimes the first whale sightings can be seen as early as October, and sometimes the Humpback Whales may stick around for longer periods. Many people travel from all over the world to come to the Big Island to see the whales.
